Columbia University has a long-standing commitment to working with minority-owned, women-owned and local (MWL) businesses. Whether by establishing purchasing relationships with vendors, entering into consulting agreements for services, or contracting for construction, renovation, and repair services, Columbia is committed to enhancing the overall engagement of the MWL community in the construction opportunities presented by the University.

MWL Goals

· Contracting Dollars: at least 25% of the dollars spent be awarded to MWL firms

· Construction Workforce: at least 40% of the labor force on major contracts ($1 million and over) be MWL

Historical Commitment

Since 2002, Columbia has spent more than $315 million in construction, repair, and maintenance services with MWL firms. Over the last six years, Columbia has been able to meet or exceed its commitment on MWL vendor participation.
